Patrick and Sharon Cordes, EdD - Executive Directors

Miss Anaheim Executive Directors

Patrick Cordes was born in Nebraska and grew up in a small town with a population of less than 200 people. In 1971 he joined the Navy to see the world. While serving, he obtained a computer technology education, launching a 40-year career. His naval stint and aerospace industry work have taken him to 11 foreign countries. An aircraft carrier landing/take-off and an at-sea transfer to a submarine have been a couple of his travel highlights. Patrick considers himself a jack of all trades. While being awed by technological advances, he invented a very simple solution for immediate classroom test scoring and analysis, the Sharpat Kit, thus assisting today’s educators with tomorrow’s leaders. Patrick was involved with the Miss Placentia-Yorba Linda Scholarship Program for six years and was co-chair of the interview preparation team with his wife, Sharon. Patrick is excited to serve as the Executive Director of the Miss Anaheim Scholarship Association!

Dr. Sharon Cordes enjoyed a 40-year career in K-12 public education as a teacher, special education district coordinator, elementary and middle school principal, and district office administrator. Throughout her career, Sharon also worked as an adjunct professor at San Diego State University, UC San Diego, and UC Irvine. She is now an independent educational consultant specializing in data analytics and reporting, research, leadership, and state and federal programs compliance. Sharon is the 2007 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnae Award from UC Irvine (UCI), a member of the UCI School of Education Dean's Advisory Board, and a founding member of the UCI School of Education Alumni Executive Committee. Sharon is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Southern California (USC), holds a master's degree from San Diego State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from UC Irvine and UC Los Angeles. Sharon has had the honor of volunteering with the Miss America Organization for the past 16 years. Sharon is committed to mentoring young women who will become our future leaders!
